Artist Statement

My artwork is based on a drawing of shells my mom has collected from the beach. Since we moved down here, the beach has always been my mom's favorite place. So when I was asked to draw seashells, I asked my mom to use some of the shells she collected to make this drawing have meaning to her.

Sophia Andre

Hi, my name is Sophia Andre. I'm a student at St. James High School and I really enjoy art especially painting and drawing. I have been into drawing since I was a kid and when I got to high school really enjoyed taking many art classes. I have taken 4 art classes since I've been to St. James and I really enjoy it. I'm originally from New York, but moved down here with my family 2 years ago. My aunt from up north is a big inspiration for who I am as an artist. She followed her passion and ended up having multiple art shows. She has a great passion for art and really enjoys it and has helped me tremendously with my wanting as an artist.
