16-year-old Josiah Hill from Simpsonville South Carolina is the son of Joseph and Rosezetter Hill. He excels in painting, and has been doing so since the age of three while attending various art programs throughout this lapse of time. These programs include but are not limited to the Fine Arts Center of Greenville, South Carolina, as well as being accepted into and attending multiple consecutive summer programs at the Governors School for the Arts and Humanities, one of the most competitive art schools in South Carolina.
Hill is a multimedia surrealist artist whose piece’s focal points are centralized around ideas in concepts such as Afrocentrism, philosophy, psychology, and other various topics. His medium of choice is usually oil and he has been using so since the age of 9. Hill’s approach to painting from a technical standpoint is characterized by both classical and neoclassical techniques with an air of romance- era stylistic choices. This being said, it goes without saying that regardless of his preferred style he is a classically trained painter and for the bulk of his ongoing career was taught by artist and instructor Susan Wilson of the Art Haven.
