Fae Valentine is a crochet fashion doll that is based on an original character I created. Fae is a sassy, fashion loving, African American, that hopes to become a model one day. As an artist I love drawing, making, and styling hair, as this is the main focus for this piece. I have been really inspired by African American hair styles such as braids, cornrows, goddess braids, Knotless braids, etc. I wanted to make a doll whose hair is inspired by many of those styles, but takes a creative turn on the "traditional" braids which I made valentine's day themed! (Because it's coming up around the corner) What could be better than one hair style? Multiple! So I created this doll with a magnet in her head to change out different types of hair styles with wigs! I love this character and hope her personality projects onto everyone and inspires them to go do something with hair too.
