This drawing was made as a gift to my dad, Colonel "Tank" Thorne, for his retirement from the Air National Guard in December, 2024. He was in the Air Force for 30 years. There, he mostly flew F-16Cs, but also T37s, T38s, AT38s, and Cessnas (150, 152, 172). He has fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, and he has been a part of the operations: Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Northern Watch, Noble Eagle, and more. I wanted this drawing to represent his unwavering leadership and the inspiration that he has been for me, my family, and everyone he has interacted with. He has always been the person I look up to and strive to be. Without him, I would not be anywhere near where I am today. This graphite drawing took about a year to complete. Through my work, I wanted to convey the unwavering time and dedication that my dad has sacrificed in a career.
