This artwork is a self-portrait inspired by the duality of being a person who is guided by the heart. It portrays the vulnerability inherent in embracing the most authentic version of oneself. It captures the warmth of inner peace that arises from this authenticity, highlighting the courage required to make decisions led by emotion rather than intellect. I was inspired to express this as I have navigated through: the struggles of finding an authentic self, vulnerability caused by being emotionally driven, and the conflict of intellectual decisions versus heart-led decisions. I chose to use yarn and string to creatively resemble heartstrings as well as the thought behind the piece. The string is fragile yet strong when intertwined. I tried to pay close attention to detail while creating this piece to be more intentional in portraying the meaning behind the artwork.
