For my artwork, I painted a fairytale knight clad in silver armor gripping a sword. She lies in the grass, splattered with blood and surrounded by flowers. You typically see men in armor and wielding swords, but I thought that violence can be a feminine thing as well. I wanted to show the messy, angry, bloody side of being a woman, but also create a sense of peace and beauty. I experimented by painting on wood for the first time, and I started with a base of acrylic paint before going over it with gouache.
