For my artwork, I made a "self portrait". I designed it to represent how people might not notice the darker things until the brightness is dulled down. My inspiration was that sometimes we might only focus on happiness and avoid the scary or challenging until we are faced with it, but by that time it has just piled up and is worse than it was from the start. That is why I chose to put a colorful bright collage in the background and then put gesso over it to make the darker wounds and smudges stand out more.
