My sculpture was inspired by ocean life. With a goal of creating a life-like creature that resembled sea life through its textures and colors I experimented with different ways of carving, sanding, painting, and sculpting my piece. While creating this piece I learned different ways to sculpt and attach the suction cups onto the tentacles and eventually discovered that when I mix spackle in different stages of dryness it created a putty that would dry out in the shape it was molded into. This piece involves many of the elements of art as line, shape, and color were used to create a pattern resembling details of an octopus.
