This piece was inspired by American traditional tattoo art and I created it from a donated violin. I sanded it down, painted a base coat, sketched it out, painted the sketches and lined it. I painted tattoo art on it because I aspire to be a tattoo artist in my near future and traditional tattoos fascinate me. I like the bold lines and colors of this tattoo style. I added some plaid on the back of the neck of the violin to accentuate the colors and add another interesting pattern to it. My goal was to achieve the look of tattoos on skin, hence the base color of the violin.
