Terminal Silence was created by accident. While my piece was in the kiln the entire mouth, chin, and nose broke off. I was troubled on what to do with the remains of my piece and decided to take a gory approach to the crevice left on the face. Originally the bust was supposed to portray an older man which made me think about how some elders feel like they have no voice it todays society. The man portrayed in the bust has no voice and no way to express his feelings displayed in is lack of mouth. I chose to use the word terminal in the title to reference how his lack of mouth is extreme and beyond a cure.
