In my art piece, I was inspired by the concept of weeping angels, as well as the cemetery statue, "The Angel of Grief." To pull it all together, I started sketching my angel out, then using magazine clippings for her tears and the dispersed half of her head. I focused on finding different shades of water and oceans to create a contrast in the flow of her tears. For her head, I envisioned a menagerie of miscellaneous things, but the details complement each other well and appear as if they are scattering or escaping. For me, my artwork represents how grief or death could be forlorn and unpredictable in nature, but a natural and welcomed part of life. I want people to look at it and have it make them think about what's going on, but think it's beautiful too, like losing a loved one. The final touches I added were some gold leaf to add some shine against the background and grab attention.
