For this piece, I started with just a block of clay, and I carved and molded it until it showed life. I wanted this fish to represent resilience, the power that Koi fish show when they swim against the currents. I decided to make this fish jumping out of the water to show movement, and used multiple shades of blue glaze to add the illusion that it really was jumping out of the water. For the fish, I made sure to add the scales as a touch of texture and the different colors like coral and white to show the variation these fish can have.
