"Landing dove" was my way of exploring movement and nature. I found the bleeding heart dove and thought that it was such a beautiful bird. I wanted to show its colors and wings. Although the bird itself usually stays on the ground, I thought having a dynamic pose of the bird landing would be the best way to show off its beauty. The dove symbolized love, pain, and vulnerability-which I experienced while making this bird-and is currently threatened by deforestation and over-hunting. This peace was a way to admire birds and the nature around me. The wood log it is on is from the woods near my house, and perfectly balances it out. The sausage casing was a medium I wanted to use for its texture and fragile nature. The paint is used to mimic the colors and show the texture of the piece.
