“My work tends to highlight one subject at a time. I’ve been obsessed with octopi, cute monsters, and portraits in the last 5 years. I usually get a lot of my inspiration from live figure drawing sessions or random google image searches. I typically do big pieces. I love when the paper I’m drawing on is bigger than me. I want the viewer to be encompassed by my art, physically and mentally. My favorite medium is charcoal because of how organic and messy it can be. I’m usually covered head-to-toe in it after doing a huge piece.
When I don’t know what to draw I just grab a piece of paper and doodle the first thing that pops into my head. My artistic influences are Tim Burton (I love making creepy art), Aron Wiesenfeld, Shaun Tan, and my college art professor Ms. Schneckloth who showed me how to use a more flowing organic style.”
