Being born in a city as eclectic as Mexico City and later moving to the Southwest and New Orleans has greatly influenced and expressed in my work. Both places have a unique spirit and particular identity but what sets them apart is their own pace of life. They made me slow down, observe and feel my surroundings with more clarity.
My artwork has been of a contemporary nature using the figure and representational elements as an important component in the visual narrative, merging it with abstract concepts and techniques as a way to move through space. All the elements become a metaphoric voice, capturing the human nature that is reflected while balancing between intimacy and distance. The relationship between the human condition and the landscape of nature are very important elements in my art.
My drawings, prints, and paintings are an extension of my identity and culture, using form and color as an idea interpreting questions of permanence in the world surrounding me.
