Alan Shuptrine

A painter known for his watercolor technical ability and realistic paintings, Alan Shuptrine has extended his reputation from a renowned master craftsman and water gilder to a nationally acclaimed watercolorist. His paintings are collected nationally, in corporate, museum, and private collections. Born the son of recognized painter, Hubert Shuptrine (1936-2006), Alan is a resident of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee. Shuptrine's style is realism and his medium is primarily watercolor. He prefers to handcraft and gold leaf his own frames for his paintings. In May, 2017, Shuptrine launched a solo 4-museum exhibition. Following the exhibition, Alan collaborated with best-selling author and National Geographic Adventurer of the Year, Jennifer Pharr Davis, for his first fine art book, titled, I Come From A Place, which contains images of Shuptrine’s watercolors, and prose by Pharr Davis. The book received the Independent Publisher’s Book Award for Best Southeastern Non-Fiction Book for 2020.
