My work captures small moments and details taken from observations I make outdoors, and translates those moments to large scale immersive formats. I am influenced by abstract and textile art. I stitch collages and kinetic sculptures that bring the viewer into an altered perspective in which they can feel the wonder and acceptance of the natural world. Nature embraces us all and my work aims to remind the audience of the egalitarian wonder of our planet.
I was born in North Carolina and received a BA in Visual Arts Applications from NC State in 2005. My installation, “We Wondered If We Could Reach Its End,” was recently featured on CW22 in their article: 22 Now | Artmosphere Community Arts Center by Tricia Williams. My most recent installations include a collaborative kinetic tree sculpture featured at Raleigh’s art festival, Artsplosure, as well as an installation for a community open house at Pullen Arts Center in Raleigh, NC.
