South Carolina-based artist, Adrian Smith, is a formally trained graphic designer. However, she’s been enhancing her skills as a watercolor painter since 2017. Portraiture is her specialty. She’s always been obsessed with the intrinsic beauty of the human form. She creates her paintings using photographs she’s taken during intimate family moments and staged opportunities with models. Concepts may vary, but the black life experience is the underlying focus.
In May of 2019, she graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a BA in graphic design. She also completed CCU with a minor in studio art, having water-media painting be her specialty. Since June of 2019, Adrian has worked as the curatorial assistant at the Florence County Museum in Florence, South Carolina.
