My recent series of work are titled Shrine Mutations. They are inspired by architecture, patterns, and organic forms. They are designed to be impossible object shrines that exist more in a dream state than in reality. Themes and imagery develop naturally as I draw. They are shrines to nothing but themselves. Oracle III (Dual Form Insanity) began with the ink portrait at the top of the page, drawn from a photo I had taken of a tombstone in Paris. After beginning the drawing, I researched who the bust depicted. It is a French psychiatrist named Jules Baillarger who founded the term Dual Form Insanity. This term ended up informing the rest of the drawing.
