Updated!!! 2017 People’s Choice 2D Winner

ArtFields congratulates the 2017 People’s Choice 2-D award winner, Patricia Sabree of Bluffton, SC for her piece, Heritage. Ms. Sabree’s piece was the second highest vote getter amongst visitors to ArtFields from April 21 through the 29th.

We acknowledge that artists find inspiration from one another, and the line between inspiration and appropriation can be blurry.

The award was originally made to Michael Geddings, whose work was discovered post-festival to have been reproduced from a photograph by another artist. Therefore, Mr. Geddings’ work was not eligible for the ArtFields 2017 competition. After reviewing the rules with Mr. Geddings, he acknowledged that he was ineligible and had misinterpreted the rules of eligibility. All competition artists sign an agreement affirming their work is wholly their own and not reproduced from others’ work.
