I love cacti and I wanted to make a fun wall hanging piece for my room to put some pencils in. I love working with clay. For this project I first rolled the clay. Then I cut the shapes to make the cactus and bloom. To add texture, I used stamps and tools to scrape into the clay. I slipped and scored these shapes to attach them. I also added a pouch.
Later, after drying, it went into the kiln. When it was cool, I glazed the piece and put a clear coat on it. Then it needed a second firing. The last step was to create the beaded wire for hanging. I think I am going to have to make another one, because my mom says this one is hers!
