This piece speaks to my personal experience with derealization and dissociation. Derealization is an increasingly common experience that describes the mental state of feeling disconnected from one's body/surroundings. This piece depicts how I would illustrate my derealization, showing a man breaking the fourth wall and directing his attention to you, the viewer. I feel as if this piece itself represents my consciousness, realizing that there is a veil between the two, where my body and real reality lives.
