I am a senior at Dreher High School and have been enrolled in art classes at school since freshman year. However, art has been a part of my life long before my time at Dreher. For as long as I can remember, I have loved to draw. When I was younger, my love of drawing took form through doodling on napkins at restaurants, sketching movie characters and landscapes, or just letting my pencil flow across the page without my guidance. As I've gotten older, I've had the opportunity to take art classes with local artists where I have explored new mediums and techniques to engage with my love of art and expand my creativity. Whether I'm free drawing by myself, discovering how to use new mediums in art classes, or doing piece assigned in school, art has had a major influence on how I've developed my sense of independence and imagination, constantly offering me new perspectives on the world around me.
