Similar to life, art can be unpredictable. But we still have to make the best of our situation because the end result could transform into a masterpiece. Each and every flawed piece of ourselves makes us who we are. When I was sculpting this artwork originally I was inspired by the Greek marble statues. I've never made a person out of clay in my life and I was going through some stress at the time, so I had no idea what I was doing. After it was finally finished, it blew up in the kiln and broke into several pieces. To my luck I was able to salvage the bigger pieces. Inspired by the Japanese technique, kintsugi, I put my sculpture back together and sealed the cracks with gold leaf. At this point the project still lacked life. I decided to add different designs to give it a kind of Chinese porcelain feel. Everything that could've gone wrong while making this art work, went wrong. But every mistake lead to the state that it is in now. It is beautiful because it is broken.
