Whenever someone makes a promise, it is never equal, never a 50/50. One party is always left with more weight, words burn deeper, more blood is always drawn on the burdened shoulders. But, that inevitability does not mean these bindings are harmful. Interdependence tells a story of two individuals. A pact - a set of rules, put in place and agreed upon - has been made between a young girl and being of the forest, her protector. The beast of burden, strong but free to take flight. Yet, it stays in watch, a sentinel and most importantly, her friend. She stays in a light sleep, stationary, and a contrast against the free wings of the spirit. They both are sources of the deepest human emotion for each other, a bond. This piece for me represents my connections with others. Its an expression of a want, a want to be interdependent, to be close, and to rely, to be safe.
