I found that the process of creating this piece is very reflective of my view of my own life. I chose sharpie and watercolor as my medium because it is something I am somewhat familiar with, yet is something out of my comfort zone. Being a senior this school year, that feeling of familiar unfamiliarity is something I have become accustomed to. I didn’t know where to start it, so I started at the top. I planned out all of the planets from the farthest then made my way to our home planet of earth and then to planets between us and the sun. The hardest planet out of all, was Mercury, the first planet in our solar system, and the second hardest planet was probably Earth. Everything else was tedious but I got through it. Similarly to my life, I know the major goals I want to accomplish, and it has been easy to come up with them, but dealing with the present and hard-to-face memories of the past has proven to be challenging. The path to these goals may be tedious, but it will be worth it.
