This piece explores the subject of perfection. How in our strive for it, perfection in and of itself becomes obsolete. One will never be enough for themselves if they cannot face the fact that their flaws are what quite literally make them one being; their collective faults. I closely relate with this piece, because I’m a very detail oriented artist so in a lot of ways. I see myself living vicariously through the dancer, the dancer who always strives for the perfect line, yet only to seem original and authentic in her performance. This is something obviously too contradictory to be possible, and that’s because it is impossible. The further we dive into perfection, the more we plunge ourselves into a deep chaos. Here it is being exaggerated by the scribbled lines and gestural shapes that swallow our focal point. Similar to how self obsession swallows us upon immediate approach.
