The titled meaning is The Beauty of the Dead in Spanish. It is referring to Día De Los Muertos. It is in Mexican culture when they remember, honor, and embrace their dead loved ones. The mediums I used were alcohol markers, watercolor, and color pencil. I use a lot of values and colors in this artwork but mostly with the flowers. The flowers are called marigolds. I want the marigolds to brighten the artwork because they are used for their bright colors. They are also used to attract the souls of the dead. The inspiration was from a movie called “Coco” but mostly it was the way Día De Los Muertos makes people view death beautifully. This piece is showing the love of a mother and daughter. The daughter made her way to the dead of the living to see her mother on Día De Los Muertos. My goal as an artist is to show my message with art. I especially want to show my Mexican heritage more. I dream that this piece and my future artworks can influence people.
