During the first semester of the AP Art class, my teacher had the class create 4 preliminary pieces that focused on improving our technical skill before we moved into our inquiry-based pieces. This specific piece, titled 'Reflections', was used to practice with rendering reflections in a realistic approach. The concept behind this piece was to focus on environmental awareness. I chose common household items that a child might find interesting. The items scattered around are to represent an abandoned child, which therefore likens the environment to an abandoned child. I chose to compare the two because people hate to see children without care. When it comes to the environment, it's a different story to them.
