Main Street, TRAX Visual Art Center, Jones-Carter Gallery, Acline Studios or The Rob. Activation stations open at 11am, Friday, April 25th, and then follow regular open hours for the duration of the festival.

Artist Statement

This piece expresses the interactions of nature and human development through aspects of nature inside of a bedroom. Through the process of watercolor, I contrasted artificial and natural lighting from a lamp in the room and sunlight shining through foliage in the window as well as how it interacted with objects in the room. The koi in the water portray the domestication of some aspects of nature and the interactions they have, whereas the tree and lily pads represent the non domesticated side of human/nature interactions by growing unbothered inside the window as well as wherever they please through the water in the bedroom

Lottie Bynum

Sumter, SC

I’m a junior at Wilson Hall in Sumter South Carolina. While being in Art/Drawing, I’ve come to learn and love new mediums such as water color and charcoal; they express the vivacious colorful parts of life I want to express in my art and also the sharp and dark contrasts that motivate me to produce art. When I’m not at school or drawing I read and play video games. The books I read and the games I play give me inspiration on what to draw or what feeling I want to evoke when presented with my drawings or paintings.
