My name is Angelina Nguyen, and I am a 17 year old student artist from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I am currently attending the Academy for the Arts, Science, and Technology as a student in their Advanced Art Major. Being a part of the Art Major and community at AAST has allowed me to broaden my skills and abilities, while also experimenting with different mediums and techniques. In terms of medium, I am most familiar with acrylic, but with the help of the Advanced Art Major, have been able to experiment with watercolor, crochet, wood burning, block printing, and many more. In terms of art shows, I’ve had the opportunity to participate in art shows like the South Carolina State Fair and the Burroughs & Chapin Juried Art Competition. Apart from the technical side of the Advanced Art Major, the community I have created with my peers and teachers has allowed me to challenge myself in new and creative ways, both artistically and socially. For the most part, I like to focus on compositions that allow the audience to think deeply and connect with the meaning of a piece. My past works have involved ideas like memory, childhood, loss, and many others. As I continue with my artistic journey, I hope to improve and grow, not only as an artist, but also as a person.
