Growing up, light has always fascinated me. I knew I wanted to build something around the idea of light. I also wanted it to be functional as a decorative piece which is when I came up with the idea for this lantern. With a candle inside the piece displays the circular pattern and without a candle it stands as a fascinating piece. I lightly carved out the area around the cut outs for depth and picked a glaze that gave the lantern a rustic look with texture.
