This summer I visited Southeast Alaska on a small sailboat. I brought my camera and a small telephoto lens so I could take photos of the scenery and wildlife, to help see and remember the details. I ended up with photos of mountains and glaciers, sea stars, whales and otters. This photo, of a flying bald eagle taken from the boat just outside of Sitka, AK was my favorite from the trip. There are a lot of birds in Alaska but getting one flying took a lot of time. I love the detail in the feathers and the seriousness of the look on his face.
