For my artwork, I wanted to capture the beauty of our galaxy in a way that cannot be seen by the naked eye. Far removed from the light pollution of our cities and towns, the Outerbanks of North Carolina offers a unique experience for many photographers. My family has vacationed in the Outer Banks for my entire life. I love walking out to the beach at night to see the expanse of our galaxy in a way that seems untouched. This year, I studied the position of the Milky Way and monitored the weather forecast for the perfect timing to capture this picture. I wanted to be able to share this experience with those who have never seen the Milky Way.
