I wanted to create a realistic painting because it is my favorite art style. I am a fan of the group NewJeans and painted one of my favorite members, Minji. I wanted to get her facial proportions correct so they looked accurate to hers. I was focused on the shadows and highlights in the reference as well as the placement of her makeup to highlight her features. I chose this picture to paint with her holding a bubble wand because I had an idea of putting bubbles in the foreground, then adding glitter to them so they pop more. For the background I made the colors blurred a bit and dulled compared to the brighter and detailed subject, Minji, so she is better emphasized. Overall, I enjoyed painting her and I feel like the small details and colors of this painting bring everything together.
