My artwork, "Constriction," is a sculptural jewelry piece made out of copper. It is textured with hammering and circular etching designs. It is worn on the head as a mask, obstructing vision. My piece represents my personal struggles with sensory processing and ADHD. I sometimes struggle to understand things visually and mentally. My artwork, "Constriction," almost looks aged and uncomfortable to wear. I included a liver of sulfur patina, highlighting the hammer texture and scratches I left in the metal. It represents the age of these issues for me and the internal tension. It also shows how these issues are long-term and will not ever leave me. When wearing this piece, it is surprisingly comfortable. This is because after years of having these issues, however hard they may be, they are a part of who I am, and I have grown accustomed to dealing with them.
