I am fascinated with the art that can be created when exploring the human face. Because of this, I have chosen to make a work of art that is a portrait. My portrait does not depict a real person that I know but the idea of a person from my imagination. I wanted to explore the idea of how we as humans look at others and create our own idea about who they might be. Without knowing my subject you may say that it is "Just a Pretty Face". I will leave it up to the viewer to add their own ideas as they add their own perceptions and experiences to the piece. I chose to experiment with papier mache because I wanted to construct a three-dimensional piece that could speak to the viewer in some way. Ultimately, I decided to mount the portrait on the black board so that the relief work stands out more.
