This birdhouse is inspired by my father's 1985 C10 truck, a vehicle that has played a significant role in my life. Since my dad bought it, we've shared countless memories attending truck shows and going on road trips together. For this piece, I used cardboard as the primary material and intentionally peeled away layers to give it a weathered, deteriorating appearance, symbolizing the passage of time. The use of recycled materials, including leaves, moss, and sticks gathered from outside, connects the piece to nature. To emphasize its importance, I created a base from palmetto tree pieces and constructed the birds out of hardware to reflect the theme of transformation and resilience.
