To my superiors at the FDA, Please accept this as formal notice that I am resigning from my position as a health inspector under your administration. While working with this branch, I've had many opportunities that I am thankful for. However, I cannot ignore the gross negligence that characterizes some of the cases in which my services were required. I have seen deadly mold, been pursued by vermin, and discovered some of the filthiest corners of the food industry. Despite this, nothing compares to the inspection I've just performed. Never in my life had I imagined that a kitchen's casualties could be higher than its ratings. The cooks fought one another like vikings. Food and drink were spilled without discretion. I tried to ask who was in charge and was nearly skewered in response. After hearing a third man howl to be avenged, I took it as my cue to leave the premises.
