Family is something that thrives in my artwork. This piece is an exploration of my life as a twin and how my relationship with my sister impacted the formation of my own identity. My twin sister Maddie is someone who I compare myself to. She has driven me to be a better version of myself. Although we are fraternal twins and not identical, we were often confused for one another. I was called Maddie and she was called Ava so often that I eventually responded to the name Maddie without even thinking about it. But as we grew, we separated our looks and who we are as individuals, and slowly people around us found it easier to tell us apart. Being a twin pushed me to find who I am as a person, not only physically but mentally as well.Dedicating this artwork to my sister shows how she has affected me and who I am - even though we can't stand each other sometimes! We helped each other grow and adapt to our environments and life, That's just what siblings do for each other.
