This piece is a representation of a woman of a higher power that has withstood many toilsome affairs that have caused different impacts on her. As you can see, she has endured battle scars as well as cracks from the pressure of her status. I decided to use the whitened-out eyes as a representation of the pure power she holds as a warrior and a princess in her hierarchical placement. The headpiece was inspired by numerous Aztec warrior headpieces and I utilized them to create the headpiece shown in the painting. The main source of inspiration for the overall piece came from the strong independent women I have had the privilege to have in my life and who guide me. They all have been through many "battles" and withstood so much in their journey throughout life but yet still stand with their heads held high such as the warrior princess.
