For my sculpture, I made a cat mask. I have currently made two masks, and "Autumn" is my most recent creation. I was inspired to start making my masks from a book called "Warriors" by Erin Hunter, where four clans of cats who live among each other and fight for survival. Of course, I was also inspired by my love for felines and the natural world. I give each of my masks a name, personality, and sometimes lore. "Autumn" is goofy, clumsy, and empathetic. To make the mask, I buy a base, cut the original ears off and use cardboard to remodel them. Then I cut a custom eye shape and cover the mask with white felt for the paint/eye shadow to have more clarity, and so it looks more furry. I hot glue mesh and paint the eyes, add color and pattern using eye shadow, and then mold, dry, paint, and hot glue the teeth and nose on. Last but not least, I hot glue ear tufts and because of her goofy personality, a removable velcro tongue.
