I painted "Funeral Chicken" to represent my life raising and collecting different chicken breeds. This bird had become a 'bad chicken' that was hurting the others in my flock. I decided to remove him so that the other birds could heal and grow their feathers back. We cooked and ate him to celebrate the end of that conflict. I focused on fine details in this painting to pull the viewer in, showing that even a bird that causes trouble has a distinct beauty and a purpose in the cycle of life on a farm.
