I was inspired to create "Shocked" because of insecurities having to do with my mouth. For most of my life, I believed my teeth ruined my face. During this project, I wanted to take the time to show them love by focusing on their details and replicating them as well as I could. Instead of labeling my imperfections negatively, I drew them as focal points to make the drawing more realistic and unique. I experimented with charcoal, mainly using compressed for the details and vine for the larger areas. The meaning behind my work is to appreciate, accept, and love yourself as you are.
