For this piece, I created a lidded vessel in the shape of an elephant performing on a stacked set of balls. This piece represents how people hold onto their pasts and their childhoods, even when they realize that these once happy memories aren't everything they once thought they were. The colors are more muted when compared to what one thinks of with the circus, and the glazes are muddled together. The vines on the piece were made to show how the elephant and the balls are worn and have been left unloved for a while, with pieces wrapped around the elephant's legs, tethering it to the balls. In this piece, I experimented with different glazes and layering techniques, as well as with the less traditional form of the sculpture itself.
