My artwork, "The Little Things," represents how sometimes you don't need to look at the big picture, because it's important to notice small things. If you are looking up to see the entire tree, you won't notice the squirrel nesting in a low branch, or the ladybug climbing the trunk, or the marching ants heading home. This artwork is designed to show the beauty of nature. It combines natural resources like twigs and moss, with other materials like air dry clay and paint, along with recycled materials to give it shape and texture, like paper and, yes, an old oatmeal container! "The Little Things" shows that there is beauty in even the most seemingly bland things, like a log decomposing on the forest floor. But these logs are home to countless creatures like mushrooms, worms, caterpillars and many other small critters. All that to say, don't only look from a distance, because you'll never see the little details that ARE life. And remember: Log is patient. Log is kind. Be like log.
