My grandmother was diagnosed with dementia right after COVID. I haven't really told anyone about it because I have had a hard time starting that conversation. My Grandmother's condition has worsened at a quicker rate than we had expected (due to head injuries in the past), and she has been recently doing this thing we call word salad. Word salad is where she says a bunch of random words in a sentence, but says them normally as if it was comprehensible. It has gotten to the point where she has just started up making words. Sometimes if my mom says something wrong, that doesn't make sense in a sentence, I worry that it is a sign that she might get Dementia too. This art piece is supposed to represent how I feel when she says these word salads. I cannot remember the last time she said something that wasn't a Word Salad. I think that this piece will help my friends understand what is going on in my life, and to help me through it.
