Alice Ballard received her Masters Degree in Art from the University of Michigan before becoming a professional artist and educator. She received a Fulbright Grant to study in India, was invited to the International Ceramic Colony in Resen, Macedonia, received a South Carolina Arts Commission Individual Fellowship, and has work that traveled nationally in “Tradition/Innovation – American Masterpieces of Southern Craft and Traditional Art” organized by South Arts and funded by the NEA. She is represented by Hodges Taylor in Charlotte, NC, Blue Spiral 1 in Asheville, Eno Gallery in Hillsborough,NC, and Tao Evolution in Hong Kong. Solo shows include the Mint Museum, Greenville Museum, and Sumter County Museum of Art. Ballard has work in the permanent collections of the Renwick Museum in Washington, DC, the Mint Museum, the Greenville Museum, state collections in SC and TN, and the Tweed Museum at University of Minnesota. Teaching experience includes Penland, Arrowmont, the Bascom, NC, Francis Marion University, and the SC Gov. School for the Arts & Humanities.
