George Stone

During his work life George Stone has enjoyed some diverse careers including playing professional baseball in the Chicago White Sox organization, working as a mechanical engineer in the power generation industry and working as a professional artist. However art has been his most consistent life-long pursuit, as he began his studies with artist Mabel Shealy during the early 1970’s and has been painting ever since. Stone is a representational oil painter who focuses primarily on landscape and still life subject matter. He has won many awards and his paintings hang in numerous private collections. Stone attempts to convey the beauty and dignity of everyday scenes to his viewers through a clear concept, accurate drawing, expressive values and color and a well-designed composition. He is especially interested in developing moods in his landscapes by capturing the quality of light present during different times of day, different seasons of the year and different locations.
