I was born in Detroit Michigan in 1955 my parents both worked in the design division of General Motors. My father taught me to oil paint at the age of 12. We lived on a kind of mini farm and making furniture and sewing clothes was a common occurrence. Consequently I was raised with a strong work ethic. I attended Columbus College of Art and Design graduating in 1979 with an emphasis on painting and sculpture. For a few years after college I worked in the Commercial art field and enjoyed that while maintaining a fine arts studio. After my father passed away I became disillusioned in Commercial art and found myself working in a halfway house. Something clicked in me with helping others. I received more training and experience and eventually worked a career of 32 yrs in a Non Profit for people with mental illness. I became the program coordinator for the last 8 years I was with them. I always maintained my studio and sold works throughout the country in sales galleries but now fulltime.
